As President of the Hood College Student Government Association this 2011-2012 school year, I want to let everyone know what is exactly going on around campus. In past years, information has been held from the students and issues haven’t been taken care of. It will be a different story this year, because our board is the most energetic I have seen in my four years at Hood.
This past Sunday, the Executive Board got together to train so we can become better leaders for the students. We sat down and came up with a mission statement, or the purpose of SGA this year. It reads, “We, the HCSGA, will listen to and advocate for students in order to bring a positive wave of change to Hood College.”
If change is going to happen at Hood, this is the year to do it. SGA is currently discussing the Core Curriculum with faculty, working on hearing the rumbles and grumbles from students regarding the dining hall one swipe a meal time policy and guest policy, and bringing together our first-ever opening SGA ceremony on September 13 at 1 p.m. in Whitaker.
If you have beginning of the year comments/issues/concerns, read the school newspaper, the Blue and Grey Today to see who you should speak to in our SGA Cabinet. As always, I am here to listen. I hope the first couple weeks of school are moving along well and until next time — Speak Up Hood College, SGA Has Your Back.
