It’s been an interesting week behind the scenes in SGA, and I’m here to fill you in.
SGA has been working hard at creating a resolution, or press release, this past week. The resolution will be sent out this week to students and it has to do with the updated computers around campus. We should be very appreciative as students for these upgrades. We specifically thank the Information Technology Department.
Moving on to the Margaret Hood Ball, I am extremely disappointed with the actions of some of the students and outside invitees. Due to the actions of some students, the dances unfortunately may become a little more strict regarding the guest policy and alcohol policy. We are going to work hard at fixing this issue and I know it will be for the better. I do want to thank the Class of 2015 on putting on the event, because they did everything right. A bright future is ahead for them.
We had an SGA Senate meeting today and had two members of the core curriculum committee come speak to us, Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Kim. Hoffman presented the updated core revision to senate and there were many good questions asked to both faculty members. We as an SGA dressed up today to show that we are serious as students when it comes to academics. This core change will affect incoming students and possibly class offerings for upperclassmen. SGA will be putting out a resolution regarding the stance of the students with the core, so if you are wondering what the proposal looks like, write an email to Katie Hays, our academic affairs representative, at email@example.com.
Hope everyone is moving past midterms and gearing up for the Nov. 4 fitness center and gymnasium dedication. Arrive at 2:30 p.m. because there are some really cool events and giveaways happening before it officially starts at 3 p.m. It is Blue and Grey day, so wear Hood’s colors and be entered into a raffle.
Always here to listen to you…Speak Up Hood College, SGA Has Your Back.
